| LAST STAGE - CESANA - M. CHABERTON - SAUZE D'OULX - JULY 28th, 2007 | Last stage of Iron Bike 2007: Parade of athletes in Sauze d'Oulx. Here are the winners of this 14th Edition: Sandra Klomp (NRS Torrevilla MTB), Radoslav Sibl (North Bikezone), Axel Strauss (KTM Mountainbiker At), Cuffini - Niccolai (HBM Racing Team)
After the start from Mount Chaberton, the 50 athletes that on july 27th, reached the top of the highest Iron Bike mountain joined the others in Montgenevre. 10 riders however, completed yesterday's stage climbing Mount Chaberton and than coming down to Montgenevre. 46 riders on the contrary, reached Montgenevre via asphalt as they didn't want to complete the stage (they were penalized for that).
So, the 116 left riders of this edition officially started the VII stage from Montgenevre followed the path to Fort Gondrand (2459 m) and than they went downhill to Bousson (fraz. Cesana - TO). We are the biggest ski resort of Europe and through the ski fields the athletes reached San Sicario up to the base of Mount Genevris (2512 m). They climbed the mountain and came down to Sauze D'Oulx.
Despite the fact this was the last stage, riders should dispute two Special trials: from Montgenevre to Bousson and from Bousson to Tacher, (5 km far from Sauze). This special stages brought the riders to climb twice the 2500 m altitude (not to mention those that decided to complete yesterday's stage by climbing up to Mount Chaberton and coming back to join the group!). However, although the hardness of the stage, no mixups to notice in the general rangements. Except, in the FS2 category where danish athlete Rolin fighted with dutch Bart Dolfin and Italian Mauro Sedici for the second and third place.
All athletes were stopped in Tacher and organized in groups of 30. From Tacher they reached Sauze in a coloured parade, anticipated and escorted by Iron BIke cars, motos and trucks. Sauze d'Oulx welcomes Iron Bike with a big party. Crowd reached the last 50 mt of the finish line to cheer the athletes.
In the evening the awarding ceremony took place, witnessed by the people of Sauze d'Oulx and the 17 flags of the nations that participated to Iron Bike. The major of Sauze greated all athletes while they all passed on the stage greeting the public (all the 116 riders). Winner of this edition is once again Czeck rider Radoslav Sibl and first woman athlete Sandra Klomp. Here follows the final range.

The best CHALLENGER 2007 has also been awarded, i.e. the one that weared the FASSI jersey for the longest time: HUGO PRADO NIETO.
